With sad hearts the family announces the passing of Bob, age 82, at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto. Survived by his wife Dorothy of 60 years, son Daryl (Julie) of Oakville, daughter Jean Whidden (Les) of Brampton, son Gary (Valerie) of Haliburton, grandchildren Jennifer Doyle (Rob), Robert (Donna), Andrew (Sara), Steven Whidden (Ashley), Bryan, Ashley and Erin, and his great-grandchildren Britney and Alexander. Bob is also survived by his brothers Doug (Lorna) and Jack (Joyce). He is predeceased by his sister Isabelle Harris. Bob was a long time member of St. Paul's United Church, Long Branch, The Singing Redmen and Faustina Hockey Club. An avid golfer and fisherman, Bob spent many happy hours in Haliburton on Redstone Lake. Bob loved his family and instilled in each of us to work hard, play hard and be a good sport. He taught us all to be grateful for all that we have and to value our times together. He will live on in all of our hearts. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m., and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul's United Church (85 31st Street, Toronto). Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, The Canadian Diabetes Association or the charity of your choice.
