Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and raised in Canada, Muriel was, above all else in her life, devoted to her family. In her working life in the criminal justice system, she was a selfless and committed professional who demonstrated a truly special, enduring compassion and empathy for countless lost souls. Muriel is survived by her three sons &#8211; Tim, Sean and Dan &#8211; and by her brother Jack and sister Shirley. She will be missed most of all by her six grandchildren &#8211; Aidan, Connor, Madelynn, Colin, Nora and Sean. Special thanks to the staff of the oncology unit at St. Joseph&#8217;s hospital, including Dr. Dorothy Lo, staff at Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr. Anthony Petrasek, and to the patient, compassionate staff at Thornbrooke Home Care who provided so much comfort and companionship through many months. A service in Muriel&#8217;s honor will be held this Sunday, February 15 at 2 PM at Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W, located between Kipling and Islington. Donations in Muriel&#8217;s honor can be made to St. Joseph&#8217;s Health Care Foundation. (www.foundation.stjoe.on.ca).
