November 8, 2008</P> <P>Peacefully at his home of 58 years amidst the love of his family. Veteran of WWII Royal Canadian Regiment, Belgium and Holland, 1945. Machinist with Canadian National Railways, 47 years of service on steam and diesel locomotives, Stratford apprenticeship, Spadina roundhouse, Turbo Train maintenance in Montreal and retiring from GO Transit Willowbrook yard. Beloved husband of Ida Elizabeth (Beth, nee Skinner). Ian and Beth recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in the company of many relatives and friends. Loving father of Ann (Fred), John (Karen), Leslie (Geoff), and Helen. Proud grandpa of Elise, Anton and Marian, Colin and Hayley, Morganna and Albany, and Dylan. Predeceased by his parents Duncan and Grace (nee McElroy) and brothers Stan (Gladys), Ken (survived by Beulah), Elroy (survived by Marion), and Alan (survived by Lorraine). Survived by his sister Barbara (Omer). Ian will be sadly missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, and many nephews and nieces. Ian was a founding member of Alderwood United Church, Etobicoke, and served on the church&#8217;s building committee. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tsang for Ian&#8217;s care. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday November 14, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Ave., at 14th St., 416-259-3705). The family requests that donations in Ian&#8217;s memory be made to The Lung Association.
