Edward David Smith

Passed away on January 2, 2008 at age 70. surrounded by family at Toronto General Hospital. David was a proud member of the Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades, Local 557, and past member of District Council 46. He spent a long career working for the Toronto District School Board and Ontario Hydro. David spent many summers at his beloved cottage in the Ottawa Valley which gave beautiful memories to all his family. He also had a wide circle of friends and recently enjoyed celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary with his wife Joan, filling their home with lifelong friends and generations of family. David is survived by his wife Joan (Wise), children Ken (Anna) of Ottawa, Karen of Toronto, Jeff (Violet) of Oakville, and Brad (Julia) of Dartmouth, N.S.; plus six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Saturday January 5, 2008 from 1pm to 3pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at 3pm in the chapel. Donations may be made to Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research.
